I steer more towards fantasy and science fiction to get away from issues like this, but I think this read will be incredible.

Sounds like a great book 🙂 I have read All the Rage. And it was beautiful. And heartbreaking. You must read it soon 🙂 What people think about rape is just waaay too depressing 🙁

I just finished What We Saw a couple days ago, and it made me angry as well. It was hard reading, because everything in the book is an accurate reflection of what real people actually say, all the time. The ideas the characters present in the book are so pervasive in our society, it’s disgusting. My brain has a hard time comprehending that people can actually think this way. ESPECIALLY girls saying/thinking these things about other girls. I wrote down so many quotes from this book. I don’t think it was quite as powerful as All the Rage, which you should definitely read, but it still has such an important message. Books like this should be required reading in middle or high school. It may be hard to stomach, but it’s reality, and teens need to realize that this behavior is not okay.
