So I went back and forth with a couple of ideas I wanted to write about but I decided to share with all of you how much of a scaredy-cat I am and which movies specifically still haunt my dreams from childhood.

That’s right…I’m the person who hides under the covers when scary movies are on (IF you can ever even catch me watching one). The thing is, ever since I was a kid, I’ve never been a big fan of horror stuff. Movies, haunted houses (I’ve been into ONE my entire life and I kicked a teacher in the face while in it, so…), scary costumes, I’m just not for it. I’m not really sure why I’ve always been this way, but I do remember when I was about 5 or 6 years old and a scary masked kid would come trick or treating I would go run and hide under the bed. Yes, I was THAT kid. BUT I was also a VERY VERY stubborn kid, and prideful as hell. SO when my dad and brother would sit down to watch some crazy scary movies every year around Halloween and I didn’t want to, they would then pick at me (in a joking manner) but I took that crap to heart, so what did I do you may ask? I SAT MY LITTLE PROUD BUTT DOWN with my Reeses and WATCHED the scary as hell movies. O_O Which later on would always be the worst mistake I made and I would swear to never do it again, yet I did.

Guys, I really don’t like people telling me I can’t handle something. It just really pisses me off.

So anyways, there is my little short version of how I have always been a chicken when it comes to horror, but let me share with you some of the movies that crazy terrified me as a kid, and still to this day I refuse to watch them.

Any movie with Freddy Kreuger in it is a NO GO for this girl. Just getting this image freaked me out. I will always remember the one scene where he comes up through the water bed, and that is why I would never get near one. >.> This dude just really freaked me out, and yet I’ve actually seen every single one of the movies.

Seriously anyone who likes this movie, I don’t even understand you and your choices. I literally had to cover my computer screen over this image while I added it on here, and when it first popped up on Google I shrieked and scared my husband. So yea, this is definitely my numero uno scary movie. YET I’VE SEEN IT MORE THAN ONE TIME!!!!!! The main scene I remember is when he stands in the street and has the balloons and it’s just all SO DAMN SCARY! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE WHO LIKE THIS??? Also, this movie is forever the reason that I hate clowns.

Chucky. Just no. What kid wants to see a movie where their dang doll comes to life and is a KILLER???? NO ONE!! NO ONE!! Also if you were a 90s child like me, do you recall the My Brother and My Sister dolls? Well my little brother got the my brother doll one year as a gift and it looked so much like Chucky to me that it didn’t even last a week in our house. NOPE NOPE NOPE. I will say I haven’t seen many of these movies, I think possibly just the first few.

So these are three of the SCARIEST movies from my childhood and I will probably have nightmares tonight from revisiting them. Now I want to leave you with one little weird fact about me when it comes to horror…

Though I’m not a fan of movies like the ones mentioned above, that obviously aren’t real, and let’s be honest, Chucky isn’t happening in real life, and no dude is killing me through my sleep, BUT I can sit and watch things like Scream (fave horror movie by the way) and can sleep soundly, which is all sorts of screwed up right?! I mean that’s actually something that could happen! SO I think it’s kind of an oddball thing.

It’s so funny, I was never scared watching that stuff when I was younger… but now I’m a complete CHICKEN!! The only movie that scared me when I was younger was IT, and I already have a phobia surrounding clowns, so I guess that makes sense. But other horror movies never bothered me.

This is such a great post! Thanks for sharing!! 🙂

If I watch a scary movie now, it’s something like Scream or a kids movie LOL HA! I’ve watched a few things like Exorcist a few years ago with the husband and freaked myself out more than enough!

I remember Candyman from when I was little, as well as Children of the Corn and, shudders, IT. I loved sitting down with my daddy and watching scary movies, and now I love watching them with my husband. I love horror books, too. Problem is, I have to sleep with a light on after, and I peek around corners… 33 years old, and sleeping with a nightlight is probably not cool!

    • Crystal says:

Omg hahahaha, I’m laughing because I read a horror book last year and had to sleep with a light on LOL my husband woke up at like 5:00 AM and was like why is there a light on?! I’m all “oh I just fell asleep with it on” >.>

I’m such a chicken :’) When I watch a scary movie I will have nightmares for weeks and I will get jumpy in the dark. I guess I have too much imagination, because I will see and hear creepy things everywhere, haha.

This is exactly ME! I can’t even take a shower unless someone is home bc I’m convinced someone is out there and will get me LOL and then every noise I hear I turn the shower off, it’s very counterproductive! SO I GET IT!

I AGREE WITH ALL OF YOUR CHOICES. God, I hate clowns. I can’t watch It. I can’t do it. And I saw a Chucky movie when I was younger and now I’m scarred for life, because I hate dolls now too. At least creepy looking ones. Also, Nightmare on Elm Street was pretty horrifying – I was afraid to go to sleep after I watched it for the very first time.

I’m not kidding when I say I put my hand over the screen like a nut. I can’t handle it. CLOWNS ARE TERRIFYING! I recommend never watching them. EVER.
