This meme is a way to discuss the books that have made their way to film, or to talk about the books we wish would be made into a movie. You are open to talk about any book out there in any way that you want. For example: Who would you have play the leads in the movie? Who would direct? Animated or live action? Etc.
This week my meme will focus on THE IMMORTAL RULES by Julie Kagawa.
This is a revisit of one of my very first Make it a Movie posts. I decided to expand upon my original post and recreate a poster to fit the movie – plus, you also get to see my explanation as to why I selected the specific actor for each role. Surprisingly, even after some very careful consideration, I would not change the cast I selected over two years ago…
Let me know what you think of my poster and dream cast in the comments!

To survive in a ruined world, she must embrace the darkness
Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a walled-in city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten. Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them—the vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself dies and becomes one of the monsters.
Forced to flee her city, Allie must pass for human as she joins a ragged group of pilgrims seeking a legend—a place that might have a cure for the disease that killed off most of civilization and created the rabids, the bloodthirsty creatures who threaten human and vampire alike. And soon Allie will have to decide what and who is worth dying for again.
Enter Julie Kagawa's dark and twisted world as an unforgettable journey begins.
Allison Sakamoto – Brenda Song
This tough, sarcastic Fringer learned early how to survive: show no weakness, trust no one. Forced to choose between agonizing death and becoming what she despises, Allie’s survival instinct still wins. Being a vampire isn’t all bad (Heightened senses and incredible fighting strength? Awesome.), but this new, all-consuming hunger frightens even her.
Brenda Song is a young and spunky actress with a diverse background. Her previous roles involved films such as The Social Network, and A Cinderella Sotry and the television shows The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Scandal and Dads. Gorgeous and talented, Brenda would fill the role of Allison, without question.
Kanin – Orlando Bloom
Allie’s sire–the vampire who turned her–is one of the Masters, the most ancient and powerful of his kind. His piercing black eyes, tall, muscular form and calm, quiet demeanor make for one ominous specimen of immortality. He is a patient but demanding teacher who keeps his secrets close.
Orlando Bloom, the little elfish man who could. How can you not want to see him in this film? He has appeared in popular films such as The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit series, Troy and Kingdom of Heaven.
Zeke – Colton Haynes
Tall, lean and blue-eyed, 17-year-old Zeke is practically the anti-Allie. He’s trusting and friendly, fiercely protective of the small clan that has gathered around his adoptive father, Jeb Crosse. He’s been raised as a leader and taught some harsh lessons about obedience, loyalty and the irredeemable evil of vampires.
Colton Haynes has starred in many roles on television, including appearing in episodes of Melrose Place, Pushing Daisies and Teen Wolf. He is currently a main character on Arrow. The Immortal Rules would be a breakthrough role for him in a feature film. Who doesn’t want to see those startlingly blue eyes on the big screen
Jeb – David Carradine
Hardened by tragedy and hatred, Jeb’s only goal is to reach Eden, a place rumored to be entirely free of rabids and vampires. With a preacher’s charisma and zeal and a soldier’s skill and discipline, he leads a handful of pilgrims, with his adopted son Zeke as his lieutenant.
David Carradine unfortunately passed away back in 2009. BUT he would have been an ideal fit (in my opinion) for the religiously fanatic Jeb. He has this sense of leadership about him. He has a strong martial arts background and is practically immortal on the hearts of his fans. He is best known for his role as Bill in the Kill Bill movies, alongside Uma Thurman. But Circle of Iron (1978) is often considered his best film.
Sarren – Christopher Walken
Scarred and seriously scary, this vampire is a real monster’s monster. Cryptic, hypnotic, psychotic–he’s got big, bad plans in his bald head…and they definitely involve Allie.
Christopher Walken is CREEPY to the max. You may know him from his roles in Hairspray, Batman Returns, Pulp Fiction, Last Man Standing, Suicide Kings, The Stepford Wives, Balls of Fury… Shall I go on? I’m just not sure that I could possibly think of anyone better to play this terrifying immortal monster…
Jackal – Cillian Murphy
The handsome and ruthless vampire king of Old Chicago likes his games bloody and his meals bloodier–both are supplied by the human gang of motorcycle raiders he commands.
Cillian Murphy is perhaps known best for his role as The Scarecrow in Batman Begins, directed by Christopher Nolan. But he has also appeared in films, such as Inception,Tron: Legacy and Transcendence. There’s something about him that spells E-V-I-L and he is just handsome enough to pull off the character Jackal.
