header-make-it-a-movie This meme is a way to discuss the books that have made their way to film, or to talk about the books we wish would be made into a movie. You are open to talk about any book out there in any way that you want. For example: Who would you have play the leads in the movie? Who would direct? Animated or live action? Etc. This week my meme will focus on I’LL GIVE YOU THE SUN by Jandy Nelson.

A brilliant, luminous story of first love, family, loss, and betrayal for fans of John Green, David Levithan, and Rainbow Rowell

Jude and her twin brother, Noah, are incredibly close. At thirteen, isolated Noah draws constantly and is falling in love with the charismatic boy next door, while daredevil Jude cliff-dives and wears red-red lipstick and does the talking for both of them. But three years later, Jude and Noah are barely speaking. Something has happened to wreck the twins in different and dramatic ways . . . until Jude meets a cocky, broken, beautiful boy, as well as someone else—an even more unpredictable new force in her life. The early years are Noah's story to tell. The later years are Jude's. What the twins don't realize is that they each have only half the story, and if they could just find their way back to one another, they’d have a chance to remake their world.

This radiant novel from the acclaimed, award-winning author of The Sky Is Everywhere will leave you breathless and teary and laughing—often all at once.

actress-annasophia-robbJUDE – ANNASOPHIA ROBB

Jude is Noah’s twin sister and a young teen who lost her mother years ago. Although sharing her brother’s artistic ability and unique personality, she has a hard time understanding him or even herself. She becomes estranged with Noah after a tragic series of events.

AnnaSophia Robb is well-known for her roles in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Bridge to Terabithia and Soul Surfer. The also plays the title character in The Carrie Diaries on The CW. Few actresses fit the description of Jude so perfectly, and fewer still could pull off her artistic and dramatic personality.

actor-kenton-dutyNOAH – KENTON DUtY

Noah is Jude’s twin brother and a young teen who lost his mother years ago. He is a talented artist who falls in love with the boy next door. Noah becomes estranged with his sister after a tragic series of events.

Kenton Duty appeared on the final season of the television series, LOST. He’s also a dancer and singer who has appeared on the Disney Channel and in various plays. I’ll admit, I know very little about this young actor. But  in selecting an actor to fill the role of Noah, I wanted someone young who appeared innocent (many of his scenes are at age 13) and similar in appearance to Jude. I’ve gotta say, Kenton certainly has potential, yes?

actor-dylan-sprayberryBRIAN – DYLAN SPRAYBERRY

Brian is the boy next door, a young teen who looks to the sky every night. He becomes close with Noah and plays and plays a role in the estrangement between the twins.

Dylan Sprayberry is best known for his roles in Man of Steel (as a young Clark Kent) and Teen Wolf. He’s also appeared on Glee, iCarly and Criminal Minds. As with Noah, for Brian I wanted to find a young actor who oozed innocence. In my  opinion, Dylan undoubtedly fits the bill better than most.

actor-teddy-geigerOSCAR – TEDDY GEIGER

Oscar is your typical “bad boy” that would be totally wrong for Jude, if he wasn’t so right… He is Guillermo’s assistant at his studio.

Teddy Geiger is a singer/songwriter who also acts on the occasion. He’s written songs for his own album releases, and is credited for working with One Direction. He has appeared on film in The Rocker with Christina Applegate. Teddy has a haughty, self-confident look about him and a body and face that looks easy to sketch.  Not to mention, I could see him wearing denim and riding around on a bike…

actor-javier-bardemGUILLERMO – Javier Bardem

Guillermo is a Colombian sculptor and potential mentor for Jude at art school. He is a bit eccentric and appears to have a few skeletons in his closet.

Javier Bardem is best known in the U.S. for his role as the psychopathic killer in the film No Country for Old Men. Being of Spanish decent, Javier has appeared in numerous award winning international films, but he also appeared in American films, such as Eat Pray Love and Skyfall. Javier has the larger than life appearance that is fitting of Guillermo – not to mention, he has the potential for bringing out his eccentricities. I really can’t think of anyone better to play the part

I AM SO ON BOARD FOR ALL OF THIS. Everyone you’ve cast is perfect and the poster is beautiful and YES. JUST YES.

Sorry for the caps. But. Yes. This movie needs to happen. *_*

  2. Julie @ Books and Insomnia says:

I LOVE LOVE your casting choices, except for Oscar. I don’t really see Teddy Geiger as Oscar. I don’t know if it’s just the photo. Maybe I’ll change my mind if I see other more Oscar-like pictures of him. And ohmygods, I am so in love with this book, too! Not too sure if I want it made into a movie, though. I really don’t want it murdered by film producers who do not know what they’re doing! ^__^

I like them. Perhaps the actors For Noah and Brian should be switched. Brian was Blond and an athlete. Wasn’t Noah dark haired like his mom? Maybe I’m wrong. Love the rest. I liked your Oscar actor in the rocker, but not sure. Thanks for the conversation. Such an amazing book!
